Mobile barber prices UK: build a price list that works

A profitable mobile haircut pays for more than the time holding the clippers. Your price needs to account for the journey, setup, service and costs of delivering the appointment.

Start with the whole booking, then compare your result with current price lists in the area you actually serve.

How much do mobile barbers charge in the UK?

There is no single UK rate for mobile barber services. Prices vary with the service, location, experience, appointment length and whether travel is included. Check prices in the area you serve, then calculate whether each booking covers service time, setup, travel, direct costs and your required return.

Compare mobile barbers serving your area and check what each price includes: a haircut at the client’s home, a beard service, travel or a minimum booking value. Use those prices as context, then calculate what each appointment needs to earn after your time, travel and direct costs.

What should you charge?

Appointment length, experience, location and travel pattern all affect what a booking needs to earn. Your own costs determine whether matching local prices is sustainable.

A £40 booking, worked through

InputExample
Hourly target£40
Haircut + setup35 minutes
Travel20 minutes
Fuel + consumables£2.50

55 ÷ 60 × £40 + £2.50 = £39.17

Illustrative price: £40

These are example inputs, not a UK market average. Your hourly target must account for the business costs and return you need; avoid adding the same cost twice.

Build a clear price list

Give each service a name, price and realistic duration. Separate services where the time or work differs: a standard haircut, skin fade, beard trim, children’s cut, or haircut and beard package.

Included travel works best for a compact area. A fixed travel fee is simple when journeys are similar. Zones or distance pricing can suit journeys that vary. Show clients the total before they confirm.

Check your prices against real bookings

Record actual service and journey time. Review whether discounts, parking and gaps between appointments are reducing the return you expected. Adjust your prices or working area when the pattern shows a problem.

Mobile barber pricing FAQs

Should a mobile barber charge more than a shop barber?

A mobile appointment may need to cost more because travel and setup occupy working time that cannot be sold to another client. Calculate your actual time and costs before deciding.

Can I charge one price including travel?

Yes. An inclusive price can work well when you operate within a compact area and journeys are relatively consistent. If travel varies significantly, fixed fees, zones or distance-based pricing may be easier to sustain.

Should I charge clients for travel?

It depends on your service area, journey pattern and costs. Compare the options in How much should a mobile barber charge for travel? →.
